Who are you and what do you do?

I am Hui Lin. I work in policy development, specifically on making insurance better and more accessible to the Malaysian public. Answering this is making me think: why must work always come after name in an introduction? Why do people associate “What do you do” with career?

I am Hui Lin and I like music and singing, figuring out poems and dance footwork, mulling over how beautiful mountains and a clear night sky are, books that give me existential panic attacks, a beautiful turn of phrase, the colour purple (not the book). OK and I also like some people.

I’m Rachael and I was previously a management consultant for 6 years, however I left that line of work to be involved in Christian missions work in Mozambique, Africa.

I’m a writer. Everything else I do—running my ecommerce company, working on new business ideas, organizing events—is part of a bigger goal to keep collecting stories and/or satisfy my curiosity.

I handle regulatory work which deals with licensing, product registration and maintenance, put my performing chops to use in a show choir and work with my hands on paper crafts as a hobby.

Most people know me as Soraya and I currently work in a bank, though I never call myself a banker. I also sing part time on weekends. I am a 100% extrovert and feel myself the most when I’m around people. I didn’t shed a tear watching The Notebook but cry buckets watching American Idol (I mean all those people and their big dreaaamsss!)

I’m Andrew and I’m a Cultural Entrepreneur. I run a humble small team called Tralulu that aims to help people travel like a local. Together, we help travellers book neighbourhood local experiences.

Umm, the first question seems to be the hardest one of all! I am a dreamer, a romantic and an idealist who believes that people are inherently good. Words, music, autumn leaves and antiquity (old buildings, artifacts, places of history) are what gives me the fuzzies.

As to what I do… by profession, I’m a marketing professional. In other words, I try to make people buy stuff by helping them see why they need it. I also freelance as a copywriter, and I sing in a choir too.

My name is Zhen, and I work in a bank to earn money to pay for my hobbies, which mostly involve making travel vlogs and other videos which I put up on youtube.com/zhenyaoyin (shameless plug).

I’m Tristan Gomez, also known as @parasquid in Github, Facebook, and mostly everywhere else on the Internet. When I’m not tap dancing my fingers on keyboards, I strut my stuff on the dance floor. Sometimes, I don my magical slippers and dabble in the fine art of Ruby programming. There’s also some rumors floating around that I’m a Jedi Master in disguise.

I’m a journalist by profession, and as for what I do? I go out and look for interesting stories to tell the public, especially those with an investigative or environmental bent.
